The SMV Men’s Club is hosting our annual football outing at Northwestern on Saturday, October 11th. Northwestern will be playing Michigan State University. Game time is TBA, but we anticipate it being an 11:00 AM game.

We’ll be tackling 2 projects this evening: making fleece throws for senior citizens & helping out with “Operation Reach Out” (care packages for military personnel). It’ll be a night of reaching out with care and compassion to those who sometimes need to be reminded that we have not forgotten them.

Please bring a pair of large scissors capable of cutting fleece.

It’s finally here! Our first gathering of SMV Book Club will be in the lower level of the rectory. We plan to meet monthly to read and discuss books which we will choose at our next few meetings.

Please bring suggestions of titles that would provide a discussion of a moral or ethical theme or ethical choices the characters make in the course of the story. Our first selection is Jodi Picoult’s My Sister’s Keeper. The next is Skipping Christmas.

All children in grade 2 PREP are asked to attend one of the Masses this weekend for the First Eucharist Inscription.  First Eucharist pins will be given to the children during the Mass.

As is our long-standing tradition at SMV, we invite all married couples of the parish who (in this calendar year 2008) celebrated their 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th or more Wedding Anniversary to join with us at the 5:00 PM Mass on Saturday, October 25th. There will be a special ceremony to renew your marriage vows during the Mass of Thanksgiving, followed by a simple catered dinner party in the Parish Center. All celebrating such an anniversary are encouraged to join us.
