The weekend of August 22, 23 and 24, 2008, playing to a full house for each performance, a “labor of love” was presented to audiences of close to 1400 parishioners, visitors and friends. Our audiences laughed and cried and were quite moved. They participated with surprise and awe and absolute delight. It was fun! And a number of attendees marveled at how professional the show was for being an amateur production.
We thank the multitude of people who went into this production: the people behind the scenes like lighting, sound, stage managers and crews, construction, artistic work, costumes, seamstresses, ticket sale, program work, ushers, hospitality; all the cast members, children’s chorus, adult chorus, dancers, musicians in the orchestra; parishioners and non-parishioners alike who invested themselves in many facets of the above areas of our production; especially Michele Farmer (musical director) / Mary Jo Pippinger (Director) / Sandy Kliver (Choreographer) / Jennifer Gedville (Producer).
This was a spiritual journey for all of us. Every rehearsal and every performance was preceded by prayer together – for we were about praising God and helping to form and encourage community within and beyond our parish family. We share portions of one prayer on the next page, which will let everyone know just how the much the entire parish was included and how everyone gave generously of themselves precisely to show honor and glory of God.
