SMV and the Vernon Hills Fourth of July Parade

Don"t miss out on all the fun this 4th of July and come to the Vernon Hills 4th of July parade. You can either march with SMV and our floats or cheer us on as we pass by.

If you"d like to march with us, arrive at the corner of Rt. 60 & Deerpath Drive between 8:00 and 8:30 AM. Parade volunteers will direct you where to park your car, and where our group will be. We are in ZONE 3. If you prefer, you can park at the end of the parade on Aspen Drive (by the Park District Building & Pool and the Hawthorn Schools) and walk over to the parade start.

If you'd rather watch the parade, the parade will kick off, rain or shine, at 9 AM on Deerpath Drive in front of the fire station. It will travel down Deerpath Drive to Sullivan Drive, and then turn onto Aspen Drive. The parade will end at the area around the Park District Building and the Hawthorn schools.

If you could let us know that you, your family, or your group/ministry plans to march, we would greatly appreciate it. Also, if you have any questions, we’d like to hear from you as well. Fr. Eduardo can be reached at 847-362-1005 or at emartinez@maryofvernon.org and Jo Ann Coli can be reached at 847-680-5272 or at JColi4@aol.com

Question of the Week--July 5, 2009

Adult: Name a time when you placed your trust in God, even though those around you did not believe.
Child: A prophet is someone who is so filled with God that others can see God acting through that person. Do you know any prophets?

Today’s Readings: Ezekiel 2:2-5; Psalm 123; 2 Corinthians 12:7-10; Mark 6:1-6

From the pile of papers on top of what we think is still the desk of Jim Welch . . .

With the Alpha Omega Summer Mission Trip less than a month away, I’m sure you can understand why my thoughts continue to be pulled in that direction. This, the sixth annual mission trip for Youth Ministry, will see around 13 adults and 62 teens off to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for a week of working, playing, and praying hard. As you can imagine it takes quite a bit of money to support this effort.

Question of the Week--June 28, 2009

Adult: In faith do you ever expect miracles?  Why or why not?

Child: Jesus performed many miracles; what does that tell you about him?

Today’s Readings: Wisdom 1:13-15; 2:23-24; Psalm 30; 2 Corinthians 8:7, 9, 13-15; Mark 5:21-43
