Knights of Columbus Minimize

The St. Mary of Vernon chapter of the Knights of Columbus is a Catholic men’s organization serving our parish and the surrounding communities. Charity is the cornerstone of all Knights of Columbus activities.

History

In 1882, a young priest named Michael McGivney saw many cases of widows, with little or no income, struggling to feed theri families struggling to feed their families. With a core of men from his parish, he formed a fraternal benefit organization to provide insurance for the widows of its members, while offeing fellowship among Catholic men.

We are now more than 1.6 million members, in over 12, 000 councils throughout the world. Our members donate more than 55 volunteer hours and over 116 million dollars each year to charitalbe and church causes. One of the best features of our order is the life insurance program that was initiated by Father McGivney. It is very affordable and is rated as one of the best in the world, with the highest ratings from Standard & Poors and A M Best.

SMV Parish Activities Minimize

Being a Knight is more than camaraderie; it is being involved with our community, supporting our Church and doing charitable and community work while enhancing our faith.  Parish activities include the blood drive and the annual award to altar servers at the end of their service period and our annual Independence Grove Bike Ride in June.

Knights help Sharing Hands by delivering donated furniture to needy families. The Knights support other parish programs, including Youth Ministry programs and the Men’s Club’s annual Halloween Party. The Knights also participate in community service projects, and have adopted Highway 45 in front of the Church to keep the community clean.

Here’s your answer! Sorry, no printer cartridges accepted with this program. Recycling will not only help us raise money—it’s also good for the environment! Look for the collection boxes in back of church.
