Mens' Club Minimize

Statement of Purpose:

The Purpose of the St. Mary of Vernon Men’s Club, is to provide the men of the Parish an opportunity to come together and practice being good Catholic Christians. Everything the Club does or sponsors shall be a means to that end. It is the charge of the club leadership to insure this remains uppermost in the minds of the members.

The means must never be allowed to become more important than that end. The object must be to strengthen our resolve to understand and appreciate others, not them cast out. The Club must be a place where we have another chance to practice tolerance, cooperation, charity and humility. The Club must provide an environment for the perpetuation of Christian ideals.

It must never be forgotten that our instructions are simple and clear: We can love God; meaning fully only by loving our fellow man; as we do ourselves. This is our avowed objective - the place where we go together. There are many paths leading there. Finding as many of them as we can will be our challenge.

Our regular gatherings are on the third Monday of each month, and consist of a short business meeting followed by a scheduled program. Being part of the Men's Club is not all work. We do enjoy the social aspect of our club. In fact, the friendships that are made through the Men's Club are truly made during the cooperation and mutual goal from working on particular projects throughout the year.

Big Ten Football

Each year, the Big Ten football outing at Northwestern University begins with breaking bread together during the pre-game tailgate. The games have always been exciting and the camaraderie wonderful.

Golf Outing

The St. Mary of Vernon Men’s Club invites parishioners and their friends to a Golf Outing each summer. The golf outing is an annual event that brings men and women together for a day of golfing fun. Golf carts feature sunroofs, a GPS system and “ScoreCast” that allow you to view all of the participants’ scores at all times. Winners of “Closest to the Pin” for ladies and men and “Longest Drive” for ladies and men are rewarded with prizes from area businesses. The golf outing is followed by a special multi-entrée dinner held at the Parish Center. The dinner is open to golfers and non-golfers. If you are unable to provide a foursome, there are always singles and doubles looking for additional players. It is a great opportunity to meet other parishioners. For further information call Pete Frantonius at 847-438-4780 or Larry Klauser at 847-816-0696.

Baseball Outing

An annual baseball outing is sponsored by the Men’s Club. The baseball outing is a true family event with the old time tradition of America’s favorite pastime, baseball. Whether you are a Cubs or Milwaukee fan or not, a great time is had by all at Miller Stadium. The pre-game tailgate is great fun and the usually high scoring games make for a great family date. (Not held some years because of game availability.)

The St. Mary of Vernon Men’s Club is open to all men 21 and older. The Men's' Club has been very fortunate to have members who share their talents with the parish. Whether they offer a specific skill, talent, or leadership, the Men's Club continually needs new members to meet the future challenges of the parish.
